Diamond Clarity
Diamond clarity refers to the level of inclusions within
a specimen of this type of mineral. Inclusions are inner flaws. External
ones are called, "blemishes."
When it comes to diamond clarity, all flaws are considered, "inclusions."
There are many different reasons why these flaws may exist. Scratches,
pits, and chips will affect the surface. Air bubbles and cracks create
inclusions, as well as additional non-diamond materials.
The significance of these flaws has a conventional meaning beyond that
of being a defect in the idea of perfection. Diamond clarity also deals
with the brilliance of a diamond. As light enters a diamond it is refracted
and reflected out. Inclusions are disruptions in this effect, resulting
in the loss of a light proportion.
